“Resident Evil: Retribution” – Starring: Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Ali Larter, Sienna Guillory, Boris Kodjoe, Johann Urb, Shawn Roberts, Oded Fehr, Kevin Durand and Li Bingbing. Directed by: Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil, R.E. Afterlife, Alien vs. Predator, Death Race).

Plot: The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

Seriously, is this movie still about zombies? Because I didn’t see a single zombie in this trailer. I saw flying dragons (zombie dragons? Probablly not), I saw a massive dog-like creature (zombie dog-like creature? Maybe) and I saw Michelle Rodriguez (zombie Michelle…wait…she was already a zombie at the end of Resident Evil. Now I’m really confused *scratching my head hoping a bald spot doesn’t appear*). I’m a fan of these movies but I’m a bigger fan of zombies and I’m finding it more and more disappointing that this franchise is abadoning my favorite movie monster. These films are becoming more about Umbrella than the evil that Umbrella has created, it’s becoming more like an Occupy Wall Street movie than a movie about the walking dead. Either way, I’ll be the first on line to see this film. I’m still hoping, but this time hoping I’m not leaving the theater in disappointment.

“American Reunion” – Starring: Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jennifer Coolidge, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Shannon Elizabeth, Eugene Levy, Natasha Lyonne and Dania Ramirez. Directed by: Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg (Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay) .
Plot: In the comedy “American Reunion”, all the “American Pie” characters we met a little more than a decade ago are returning to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about-and get inspired by-the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.

No wonder the unemployment rate has decreased…some of these actors have finally found jobs again! I had high hopes for this movie just because the first movie was ground-breaking and just downright hilarious. It’s a comedy classic…then they ruined it with unnecessary sequels and straight to DVD titles that never deserved to see the light of day. I half smiled through some parts of this trailer and the other parts I watched in boredom because it was all things we have seen before…this looks like it’s going to feel like an actual reunion. Sure, at first you’re glad to see everyone you haven’t seen in years and then later on you realize you probably should have stayed hom and watched “American Pie”.

Plot: “The Hobbit” follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever. Gollum.

This is a pretty good trailer. It’s not great. A lot of the trailer is just shots from the movie and no real talk. Which is cool - but there’s nothing to really get you excited for this film unless you’re a hardcore “Lord of the Rings” fan. However, the film is still being worked on so I can definitely appreciate what was given to us considering the film is in post-production. Also, how can someone not be excited to see Gollum back where he belongs…on the big screen.

Plot: A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus-the demigod son of Zeus-is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramirez), switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Hm…I’m very intrigued with this trailer. It’s action-packed and the CGI is pretty impressive. However, “Clash of the Titans” was very disappointing and the trailer to that movie was quite entertaining and promising as well. So, while my confidence in this movie is low, I’m sure once it comes out I’ll most likely check it out. Why? Because I never learn my damn lesson. Jeez!

Plot: Every hero has a journey. Every journey has an end. Christopher Nolan returns to complete the epic Gotham trilogy that launched with Batman Begins and reached the stratosphere with the billion-dollar blockbuster The Dark Knight. Inception’s Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levett join the cast regulars along with Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy as the powerful villain Bane, while Oscar winner Christian Bale prowls the night as the Caped Crusader, fighting crime and corruption with the help of Michael Cane, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman.

Football scene…INSANE. The chanting every time Bane shows up…INSANE! The flying heli-thingy…INSANE! Overall, INSANE! Bane’s voice…um…INAUDIBLE! Wait, maybe I shouldn’t be excited about that? But everything else is very promising. You know the fisticuffs scene between Bane and Batman (should I just call him Dark Knight from now on?) is going to be edge of your seat stuff. Where does Catwoman belong in this story?
I’m not gonna sugarcoat this…but I absolutely disliked, wait no…I absolutely hated, wait no….I absolutely despised, shoot not yet. Oh yeah, I absolutely loathed “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”. It was ridiculous, silly and downright horrible. I don’t expect Shakespeare with these comic book/toy movies but I do expect a script that was written by an adult. However, this sequel seems to be heading in the right direction. The focus in this trailer is all on Dwayne Johnson and he’s definitely the most marketable movie star for this maybe soon franchise. Well, the ending to this trailer is pretty bad ass with another unexpected movie star making his appearance that should bring even more hope for this movie. I love the trailer and have high expectations. My only question is, “where the hell is Cobra Commander”?

“Men in Black III” – Starring: Will Smith, Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones, Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Alice Eve, Bill Hader and Michael Stuhlbarg. Directed by: Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, Men in Black II, Wild Wild West).

Plot: The film involves Will Smith’s character traveling back in time to team up with a young version of Tommy Lee Jones’ character (played by Josh Brolin) to, obviously, save the world.

Well, this was a disappointing trailer. I enjoyed “Men in Black” but “MIB 2″ was rather dull and offered nothing new to the series. “MIB 3″ seems to be going down that same road. However, there’s always something so charming and endearing about Will Smith that you can’t help but see whatever movie he’s in. Damn you Will Smith, damn you for being so charming and entertaining.

“Christian [Bale] announced that this could be his last time as the masked vigilante [Batman] whose secret identity is Bruce Wayne, an American billionaire who as a child witnessed his parents’ murder, leading him to a life of revenge on crime. “I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I’m taking that cowl [Batman hood] off,” he said. “I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it’s all done. Everything’s finished. It’s me and [Director] Chris [Nolan] – that will be the end of that Batman era.” EntertainmentInquirer.net. Well, the questions now are…who will replace both Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan? Are they even replaceable? Everyone knows this movie is going to make ridiculous amounts of money and it will definitely break some type of records. So, when there’s still money to be made I doubt Warner Bros will allow this franchise to just disappear for a few years. However, I think that’s the best course of action. I’d let these classic films (assuming “DKR” is just as good as its predecessors) sit in our minds for several years and bring it back in about 10 years. However, I don’t see that happen. Warner Bros must be nervous right about now. “The Dark Knight Rises” opens July 20th
