“Resident Evil: Retribution” – Starring: Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Ali Larter, Sienna Guillory, Boris Kodjoe, Johann Urb, Shawn Roberts, Oded Fehr, Kevin Durand and Li Bingbing. Directed by: Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil, R.E. Afterlife, Alien vs. Predator, Death Race).
Plot: The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
Seriously, is this movie still about zombies? Because I didn’t see a single zombie in this trailer. I saw flying dragons (zombie dragons? Probablly not), I saw a massive dog-like creature (zombie dog-like creature? Maybe) and I saw Michelle Rodriguez (zombie Michelle…wait…she was already a zombie at the end of Resident Evil. Now I’m really confused *scratching my head hoping a bald spot doesn’t appear*). I’m a fan of these movies but I’m a bigger fan of zombies and I’m finding it more and more disappointing that this franchise is abadoning my favorite movie monster. These films are becoming more about Umbrella than the evil that Umbrella has created, it’s becoming more like an Occupy Wall Street movie than a movie about the walking dead. Either way, I’ll be the first on line to see this film. I’m still hoping, but this time hoping I’m not leaving the theater in disappointment.
“American Reunion” – Starring: Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jennifer Coolidge, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Shannon Elizabeth, Eugene Levy, Natasha Lyonne and Dania Ramirez. Directed by: Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg (Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay) . Plot: In the comedy “American Reunion”, all the “American Pie” characters we met a little more than a decade ago are returning to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about-and get inspired by-the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.
No wonder the unemployment rate has decreased…some of these actors have finally found jobs again! I had high hopes for this movie just because the first movie was ground-breaking and just downright hilarious. It’s a comedy classic…then they ruined it with unnecessary sequels and straight to DVD titles that never deserved to see the light of day. I half smiled through some parts of this trailer and the other parts I watched in boredom because it was all things we have seen before…this looks like it’s going to feel like an actual reunion. Sure, at first you’re glad to see everyone you haven’t seen in years and then later on you realize you probably should have stayed hom and watched “American Pie”.
“The Hobbit” – Starring: Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ian McKelle, Andy Serkis, Cate Blanchett, Stephen Fry, Aidan Turner, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Evangeline Lilly, Bret McKenzie, Lee Pace and Luke Evans. Directed by: Peter Jackson.
Plot:“The Hobbit” follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever. Gollum.
This is a pretty good trailer. It’s not great. A lot of the trailer is just shots from the movie and no real talk. Which is cool - but there’s nothing to really get you excited for this film unless you’re a hardcore “Lord of the Rings” fan. However, the film is still being worked on so I can definitely appreciate what was given to us considering the film is in post-production. Also, how can someone not be excited to see Gollum back where he belongs…on the big screen.
“Wrath of the Titans” – Starring: Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Danny Huston, Rosamund Pike, Ralph Fiennes, Edgar Ramirez and Bill Nighy. Directed by: Jonathan Liebesman.
Plot:A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus-the demigod son of Zeus-is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramirez), switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.
Hm…I’m very intrigued with this trailer. It’s action-packed and the CGI is pretty impressive. However, “Clash of the Titans” was very disappointing and the trailer to that movie was quite entertaining and promising as well. So, while my confidence in this movie is low, I’m sure once it comes out I’ll most likely check it out. Why? Because I never learn my damn lesson. Jeez!
“The Dark Knight Rises” – Starring: Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine. Directed by: Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception).
Plot:Every hero has a journey. Every journey has an end. Christopher Nolan returns to complete the epic Gotham trilogy that launched with Batman Begins and reached the stratosphere with the billion-dollar blockbuster The Dark Knight. Inception’s Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levett join the cast regulars along with Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy as the powerful villain Bane, while Oscar winner Christian Bale prowls the night as the Caped Crusader, fighting crime and corruption with the help of Michael Cane, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman.
Football scene…INSANE. The chanting every time Bane shows up…INSANE! The flying heli-thingy…INSANE! Overall, INSANE! Bane’s voice…um…INAUDIBLE! Wait, maybe I shouldn’t be excited about that? But everything else is very promising. You know the fisticuffs scene between Bane and Batman (should I just call him Dark Knight from now on?) is going to be edge of your seat stuff. Where does Catwoman belong in this story? I don’t know but I’m sure Nolan is going to make it work. Great…GREAT stuff going on here. Can’t wait!
“G.I. Joe: Retaliation” – Starring: Channing Tatum (Captain Duke Hauser), Adrianne Palicki (Lady Jaye), The Rock (Roadblock), Bruce Willis, Lee Byung Hun (Storm Shadow), RZA (Blind Master), Ray Stevenson (Firefly) and Ray Park (Snake Eyes). Directed by: Jon M. Chu (Step Up 2: The Streets, Step Up 3D).
Plot:The G.I. Joe team faces off against Zartan, his accomplices, and the world leaders he has under his influence.
I’m not gonna sugarcoat this…but I absolutely disliked, wait no…I absolutely hated, wait no….I absolutely despised, shoot not yet. Oh yeah, I absolutely loathed “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”. It was ridiculous, silly and downright horrible. I don’t expect Shakespeare with these comic book/toy movies but I do expect a script that was written by an adult. However, this sequel seems to be heading in the right direction. The focus in this trailer is all on Dwayne Johnson and he’s definitely the most marketable movie star for this maybe soon franchise. Well, the ending to this trailer is pretty bad ass with another unexpected movie star making his appearance that should bring even more hope for this movie. I love the trailer and have high expectations. My only question is, “where the hell is Cobra Commander”?
“Battleship” – Starring: Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker. Directed by: Peter Berg (Hancock, Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom).
Plot:Peter Berg (“Hancock”) produces and directs “Battleship”, an epic action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Based on Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, “Battleship”.
It’s “Transformers” meets “Battle Los Angeles” meets “Independence Day” meets “Skyline” meets every other aliens attacking Earth movie. However, I’m loving the action shown in this trailer so I’m definitely excited to see it. It’s also Rihanna’s big screen debut…oh boy…that should be interesting.
“Men in Black III” – Starring: Will Smith, Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones, Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Alice Eve, Bill Hader and Michael Stuhlbarg. Directed by: Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, Men in Black II, Wild Wild West).
Plot:The film involves Will Smith’s character traveling back in time to team up with a young version of Tommy Lee Jones’ character (played by Josh Brolin) to, obviously, save the world.
Well, this was a disappointing trailer. I enjoyed “Men in Black” but “MIB 2″ was rather dull and offered nothing new to the series. “MIB 3″ seems to be going down that same road. However, there’s always something so charming and endearing about Will Smith that you can’t help but see whatever movie he’s in. Damn you Will Smith, damn you for being so charming and entertaining.
Does the world really need to see “Titanic” in 3D? I’m just beyond words right now with this trailer and this news. The saddest part is that I’m sure this re-release will make tons of cash and therefore lead to other movies being reissued in 3D. Can you say, “Terminator 2″ or even “Aliens”? The only good thing about this movie being released in 3D is that now men can cry behind their glasses and no one will know…unless you do one of these cries:
“Mirror Mirror” – Starring: Julia Roberts (Evil Queen), Lily Collins (Snow White), Armie Hammer (Prince Andrew Alcott), Nathan Lane (Brighton) and Sean Bean. Directed by: Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell).
Plot: “Mirror Mirror” is a spectacular reimagining of the classic fairy tale starring Oscar winner Julia Roberts as the Queen, Lily Collins (“The Blind Side”) as Snow White, Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Prince Alcott, Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones,” “The Lord of the Rings”) as the King and Nathan Lane (“The Lion King,” “The Birdcage”) as the Queen’s hapless and bungling servant, Brighton. An evil queen steals control of a kingdom and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.
I guess there IS room for two Snow White movies. While,“Snow White and the Huntsman” has a serious and dark tone, “Mirror Mirror” seems to be going the “The Princess Bride” route. I had a lot more fun watching this trailer than I did with “Huntsman”. Oh, and of course they had to include the Julia Roberts laugh in this trailer, but that’s ok because that scene is hilarious. Which movie will you be seeing? “Huntsman” or “Mirror Mirror”? Or both? Personally, sign me up for “Mirror Mirror” and put me on the waiting list for “Huntsman”.
